Okay, so San Diego may not be the first image that comes to mind when dreaming of Winter Wonderland. However, although we don't have many ponds with natural snowfall or freezing, this does not mean that we cannot create our own cold weather magic.

For the festive mood this year, check out the three outdoor skating rinks that have appeared in sunny San Diego this season.

Liberty Station’s schedule is full of seasonal events—from holiday markets to the "Nutcracker Tea Party"—but the local favorite is the Ladi Children’s Skating Rink. Now in its 25th year, the skating rink has been launched in cooperation with the NTC Foundation, and the proceeds will be used for the Post-Cancer Prosperity Program of the Peckham Cancer and Blood Disease Center at Reddy Children’s Hospital. Please pay close attention to the updated schedule of special events such as Seagull Night, iHeart Rady Children’s Night and Rady Children’s Aid Day.

Opening hours: open daily from 10 am to 10 pm

Date: As of January 9, 2022. The ice rink will be closed on December 25th.

Location: Central Promenade, Freedom Station, Art District, 2875 Dewey Road, Point Loma

Tickets: Purchase in person or online, the price is 13 US dollars (children) and 15 US dollars (adults); military and Rady's Children staff 10 US dollars. All tickets include ice skating and helmet rental. For multiple visits, five and 10 punch cards are also provided.

Sandwiched between the ocean view and the iconic resort, Hotel del Coronado’s seaside ice rink is the ultimate skating experience in San Diego. When you need to take a break, you can book a booth at Frostbite Lounge to enjoy drinks, snacks, fire pits and comfortable seats. A portion of the proceeds from "Beach Skating"-which is part of its Holiday Home program-will be donated to the San Diego Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Business hours: variable; please refer to the website for details

Location: Windsor Lawn, Coronado Hotel, 1500 Orlando Avenue, Coronado

Tickets: The general admission fee is US$35, which includes skate rental and 90-minute ice activities, and the seasonal pass costs US$400. It is recommended to book online as the number of walking tickets available is limited. (Frostbite reservations are sold separately.)

Get big or go home! Go to the mountains to experience the Viejas Casino Resort, which claims to be the largest outdoor ice skating rink in Southern California. Bonus: The ice rink is located in the Viejas Outlet Center, so you can reduce holiday shopping during your visit. Other activities on the venue include festive water shows, entertainment activities and festive lighting.

Opening hours: Open daily from 3pm to 10pm, with special holidays on December 24th and 25th.

Location: Viejas Outlet Center, Viejas Casino and Resort, 5003 Willows Road, Alpine

Tickets: Tickets for the 90-minute ice and skating rental are US$20 (adults) and US$18 (12 years old and under). Season tickets can also be purchased for $99.
