After Jo Rigby's six drivers walked through a video of a person in 25 seconds, many of you got in touch with your thoughts/observations/opinions on the painted bike lane. .....

On Facebook, Matt Reeve said, "In general, they are inconvenient and insecure"...

"What are these lanes, 1-1.5m wide? When crossing them, the entire width is unusable, usually due to gutters, poor-quality pavements or general debris. If more than 50% of the exterior is available, then it may Located in the top 10% of these lanes in my area. This means that riders are pushed closer to passing vehicles. There is also the problem of these lanes being parked in the most inconvenient places (such as large intersections), and the roads where traffic priority is given to left turns . In general, they are inconvenient and insecure."

Andy Moose added: “The solid white line means that the car can’t be crossed, but we didn’t actually enforce it, so come on. The broken line means there is some paint on the road. Then it’s weird, we draw In a photo, there is a bicycle every 20 meters. This may be the outline of the last cyclist who died here, but the car must be parked on it anyway."

Gareth Olley commented: “As an ordinary commuter, I find these commuter lanes are more dangerous than no lanes. Although they are in the lanes, vehicles will pass anyway because they see this line as a separation/obstacle. The end of the'lane' most traffic will give you more space because they suddenly shared their lane. It all depends on attitude, and these are harder to solve!"

Here rjfrussell writes: "It all depends, doesn't it? If they are of the right width, they may indeed help keep most cars away from cyclists in most cases. Some are definitely worse than none. A lot of them are too narrow, and in order to do the "right" thing and stay in it, I ended up cycling too close to the gutter. The worst is the thin belts on the fast roads, they encourage close/unsafe passes because , "If the bike is on the bike lane, then I can overtake, even if my speed is 40 mph, even if there is traffic on the opposite side, even if I leave at most 1.5 meters to pass'. "

To commemorate the one-year extension signed by @MarkCavendish and #TheWolfpack, on Wednesday we will release the first episode of a wonderful three-part documentary, telling the story of the unforgettable Tour de France.

A news report in Belgium indicated that the Australian races-Tour of Australia and Cader Evans Great Ocean Road-may be held before the UCI Road World Championships in Wollongong, New South Wales in September 2022. Neither of these competitions have been held since 2020, and they were cancelled again in January.

However, Eurométropole Tour event organizer Louis Cousaert told Belgian newspaper La DH Les Sports that he heard that the Australian event might be held in September.

From the perspective of allowing drivers to have more time to adjust to Australia’s jet lag before the World Championships, this move makes sense, although competitions like the British Tour benefit from the best races in the world and improve before the big goal. In their status, you can see the fields of reduced quality. Of course, all the crazy guesses at this time...

Chester police appealed to a cyclist who had collided with a 6-year-old boy on a motorcycle to come forward. Before 5 pm on Thursday, December 2, the cyclist did not stop at the scene of the incident on Bracken Stamford Road, which resulted in the boy's skull fracture.

The Chester Standard reported that the boy had been discharged from the hospital. Police Constable Nicholas Watts said: "This collision fractured a young boy's skull and eye sockets. He is now recovering at home, but these injuries may be worse.

"We know that the Stamford Road area will be very busy at this time of the night, and some investigations, including closed-circuit television, are underway. We will urge anyone with a dash cam lens or anyone who might have witnessed a collision to contact us and We are together. I also want to take this opportunity to call on cyclists to come forward on their own and assist us with inquiries."

Helmets and headlights must be worn in all cycling time trial events-including mountain climbing; the resolution passed at the annual meeting of the Organizing National Committee on the weekend https://t.co/4eGed69CIg #cycling pic.twitter.com/ieC8Mhuibq

A large number of reactions sounded the announcement of the cycling time trial that headlights and helmets must be used in all events...

Jimmy Ray Will commented on our story: "I have a bit of taillights...many TTs are on dual lanes, and usually in the early morning. Although you can argue that dual lanes provide a lot of space and unparalleled sight Etc. The speed difference makes the mandatory use of taillights to be regarded as a responsible behavior.

> All cycling time trials must wear helmets and headlights-including mountain climbing

"I struggled more under the headlights... To me, it seemed to cater to the notion that paranoia and cyclists are hard to see. At least during the day, as a person with average eyesight, I have never been very on the road. It's hard to see cyclists.

"I wear a helmet until I climb the mountain. I would like to know how many accidents (total number and number of people who caused head injuries) in climbing activities in the past few years. Or is it about going down the mountain (after the game) or Reduce the risk when cycling to the starting point?"

FishandChips said: “It’s a good decision in both aspects. In particular, the headlight rules should be introduced at the same time as the taillights. I have grouped on many TTs and agree that it’s often difficult for drivers to spot it head-on. When I was looking for them. As for the helmet rules, I haven't seen anyone wear helmets in the TT events organized by our club, so it is not a chore to mandate riders. "

On Facebook, Teak Head Al commented: "I'm often tempted by mountain climbing, but if they think I can't ride a mountain without touching the ground, I will have nothing to do with it."

To be fair, this doesn't seem to slow down the national champion Tom Bell too much...

The news brought to everyone last week has finally been confirmed. Starting next season, the first whispers for the Cavaliers to sign a new contract called Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl with the team began almost after the end of the season. Now, months have passed, and it has finally been confirmed...

> Mark Cavendish will stay at Quick Step-Alpha Vinyl for another year

"I'm very proud and happy to have a new contract with Dekoninke-Quick-Step," Kraft said. "When I came to this team a year ago, I made no secret of my interest in this team. The admiration of everything the team has done, how happy I am to come back here. From the first time I came here, I knew that this team has a unique family feel, which is something that continues to this day culture.

"The past 12 months have been extraordinary, and the support I received from the team and staff sometimes makes me very excited. I really look forward to creating some more special memories together in the next 12 months."

In today’s completely normal news, Christina Burch, who has won the US national championship 11 times, has joined NASA as one of the ten new astronaut candidates. This is the space agency's first enrollment in four years, but includes retired track and field cyclists who recently won a national championship in the team chase and 2018 Madison.

Birch's cycling career began with her time at the University of Arizona and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she received two bachelor's degrees in mathematics and biochemistry, and a doctorate in bioengineering.

According to a NASA press release, 10 candidates will report in January to begin a two-year training program, including operation and maintenance of complex systems on the International Space Station, spacewalk training, development of complex robotic skills, and safe operation of T-38 Training jet aircraft, and Russian language skills.

After the training period is over, Birch may be assigned to missions involving research on the space station, launching from the United States using spacecraft built by commercial companies, and traveling to the moon including NASA’s Orion spacecraft and Space Launch System rockets Deep space missions to destinations within.

"Each of you has an amazing background," Palmmelroy, a former NASA astronaut and NASA deputy director, told the candidate. "You have brought many forms of diversity to our astronaut team, and you have promoted one of the highest and most exciting forms of public service."

Birch’s partner and the first person to participate in the individual chase in less than four minutes, Ashton Lambie shared the news on Instagram...

Perhaps the more pressing question is "How to buy a bike in time before Christmas?"... But for the sake of argument, suppose you have control over this. How do you wrap it? I would love to put it in the box, or not bother at all... but I am lazy, and once it works out of the box, you may not want to spend time setting up the bike on Christmas morning...

This is one of the few bike lanes in Wandsworth. In its walking and biking strategy, the Conservatives boast that this bike lane encourages people who are disproportionately affected by road hazards to ride bikes. Its status. pic.twitter.com/vIl1U83wnM

— Joe Rigby (@Jo_Earlsfield) December 5, 2021

I believe the city council is very satisfied with its new setup: a shiny repaved road and some sharp new lines provide safe riding space for cyclists. When you have white paint, there is no need for a separate lane with a physical barrier...

But this video from Wandsworth MP Jo Rigby shows the paint problem-nothing can stop the driver from crossing the line, because all six people in this 25-second clip did it to varying degrees. Some people cut off the paint, others opted for the Max Verstappen racing line, and everyone would run into or dangerously approach a cyclist in the driveway.

Cllr Rigby said that she offered to ride this route with her Conservative Party colleagues to show what could be improved, "but he is not allowed to do this because I am not a Cllr of the Conservative Party."

Independent reporter Jon Stone commented: “It looks like a situation where physical isolation will actually reduce speeding in corners and prevent drivers from taking this line.”

Others use pictures of their local painted driveway to interject, but the effect is not good...

I absolutely hate painted lanes with substandard widths, but especially on corners like this: when I started riding again a few years later, I was passed by a driver who did this.

Now, not using the lane is an abuse... #WorseThanNothing #MurderStrips #ILOH pic.twitter.com/dptslQEajI

Are you confident to ride a bike on the painted bike path? Are they really better than nothing?
